Legislative Update: SB 293 to be Heard on Tuesday

Hoosiers, this is it! We are excited to share that SB 293 is being heard in the Senate Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy on Tuesday, January 24, at 9:30 a.m. We will share a live link to the committee hearing that morning.

Now is the time to directly engage in the legislative process by contacting members of the Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee and ask them to vote "Yes" on SB 293. We want to thank Senators Holdman, Walker and Pol for their continued leadership on this issue. Senator Holdman is chairman of the committee and Senator Walker is a member of the committee, so be sure to thank them in your communications.

SB 293 unleashes our farmers and small businesses to compete in the full hemp market while increasing consumer protections for products currently on the market. We look forward to continuing to discuss our concerns about the proposed 15 percent tax rate on the retail sale of craft hemp flower, which is currently part of the bill, with Senator HoldmanOverall, this is a bill that will revive Indiana's hemp market by providing clarity and confidence to farmers and small businesses.

Please see the infographic below for a summary of SB 293, and be sure to reach out to the committee members this weekend! Their emails are listed below or you can call (317) 232-9400 and asked to be patched into the Senator's office.
