Thank you! MHC's Fiber Forum & Field Day

THANK YOU to all who attended and participated in Midwest Hemp Council's first ever Fiber Forum and Field Day! Attendees enjoyed a fun-filled day of learning with Purdue Extension Hemp Specialist Marguerite Bolt and CropScout Christie and networking with industry leaders from the Hemp Feed Coalition,  US Hemp Building Association, Illinois Hemp Growers Association, HempWood, IND Hemp (who also donated hemp oil and seed for the brownies and granola in our Farm House Brew sack lunches), Formation Ag, and Bish Enterprises.

Attendees learned about:

  • The agronomics of hemp production, pests affecting hemp and how hemp fits into our Indiana agricultural landscape
  • How hemp is harvested and post-harvest preparation before it goes to a processor (demonstration by Bish Enterprises)
  • The necessary processing steps of the hemp stalks, specifically decortication (demonstration by Formation Ag)
  • Novel and traditional applications of hemp fiber

We are so appreciative of Steve and Dillon Langley, who allowed us to use their farm for the day and were very gracious hosts and informative presenters. And thank you to our sponsors: Indiana Farmers Union, Indiana Farm Bureau, Purdue Extension, Hemp Brand Builders and Heartland Hemp Coop. The day would not have been possible without you!
